Japanese Tea Honors Girls Missionary Society Event

Mrs. A F McMahon hosted a unique Japanese tea for the Girls Missionary Society of the Baptist church last Friday. Guests entered in Japanese style, with Sara Louise Furlow and Thelma Wood in costumes greeting them as two little hostesses. A tea table was set on the floor, an educational Japan article read by Miss Clara Nolen, and questions with a prize for the top answer. The Japanese parasol went to Miss Florrie Woodward. Sara Louise Furlow gave a Japan recital and Thelma Wood sang a Japanese song. Refreshments followed amid many oriental features. Attendees included Verdie Mae Moore, Ina Belle Moore, Florrie Woodward, Allie Jarrell, Cassie Maddox, Reedie Ray, Dovie Carmichael, Lily Childs, Fannie Barnes, Grace Ham, Mary Land, Ada Belle Johnson, Nell Hendrick, Estelle Gilmore, Marguerite Fletcher, Thelma Wood, and Sara Louise Furlow.
