Mecca Sinking After Collision With Lindula

In Calcutta on Tuesday the British India Steam Navigation steamer Mecca collided with her sister Lindula, towing Lindula after it failed. The Mecca sank with captain and 52 others drowned. Lindula survived and returned to Calcutta with the survivors. Separately at Gisralta a report says 40 Krupp guns bound for Cadiz and Spain were mislabelled through customs as kitchen furniture.

The gunboat Hornet arrived from the blockade this morning reporting calm conditions along the line. Navy observers noted no incidents or movements disrupting the quiet status.
