Local notes recount a week of social calls and trips to Atlanta. Residents including J C M Kimball M L King and many families visited relatives, shopped, attended events, or took business trips in and around Atlanta and nearby towns.
A severe fire burned six mules and threatened a man’s leg, but he is now much better and progressing. The blaze was set by an incendiary, and the guilty party has been captured.
Revival services begin at the Methodist church next Sunday morning with Pastor assisted by Rev. T. R. Kendall. Music will be directed by Mr. W. R. Gilreath. All are cordially invited to attend.
The Jackson Baptist Bible School plans a Cradle Roll Anniversary next Sunday week the 15th during the regular session. The roll will be called babies respond make offering and perform tasks as directed by the superintendent. They expect over fifty babies under three years of age. See advertisement for babies.

John R. Mayfield died last Sunday at his Atlanta home from dropsy. His remains were brought to this city for burial at Macedonia Monday, with Rev. W. O. Sharp of Flovilla conducting. A native of Butts County he left several children.
The engagement of Miss Mary Ruby Mays and Mr. Clarence Milton Compton is announced. The couple plans a June wedding with no invitation cards. The bride is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Mays and is noted for vivacity, while the groom is described as a reputable young businessman.
Mr. S. B. Cousins of Locust Grove will preach at Flovilla Baptist church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the service.

The land sale Tuesday at Carmichael Park, managed by Col. T. G. Dorough of Royston, sold 38 lots for $7,400. The well-run sale earned praise for orderly conduct and promises of new residences. Col. Dorough’s courteous dealings won friends who will welcome him back.
A large crowd from Sunday schools and the city rode in six coaches at 9 20 am to a Thursday picnic in Macon. Children were in high glee over the approaching day and thoroughly enjoyed the outing with well filled baskets and happy hearts.
On Memorial Day the people of Jackson and Butts County gathered at the Court House for a Confederate memory celebration. Judge Daniel of Griffin delivered a sublime address, praised the lost cause, and Col Willingham introduced him. Col Threat Moore added an eloquent tribute to mothers and veterans.
The Honor Roll at Jenkinsburg School lists students by grade. First Grade includes Frank Bankston and others. Second Grade lists Marvin Farrar and colleagues. Third Grade features Odelle Moore and more. Distinguished List honors Vesta Flarvey and additional names. Carrie Dupree Smith serves as the teacher.
The article urges temperance actions for May 8 as Temperance Sunday and notes the International Sunday School Committee designates the second temperance Sunday as Anti Cigarette day.
