Justice Robison presided at a preliminary hearing in the old Presbyterian church for the State against Mattie King charged with the murder of Laborn Washington in Worthville. Testimony from Mrs. G L Washington and Paul Gunn described a fatal shooting during a struggle over a gun as Mattie King allegedly fired at the boy. The defense claimed the shooting was accidental. King was remanded pending next term of the Superior court. Jim King waived preliminary trial on a separate weapons charge.
