Colonel Livingston’s Clever Cigar Swindle Tale
A tale of Colonel Livingston touring with a newspaper man and a Georgia politician in a cigar shop near the capitol. The colonel buys one thousand Pittsburg stogies for nine dollars, pockets extras, and later offers two special cigars said to be from Venezuela president Crespo. A local investor and press figure react as the story jostles public image and statues are teased. The text also bulks with health ad copy and notices from Dr Miles and Dr. Krum’s dispensary pages, including Cure for the Heart and free medicine offers.
