The last session passed a law requiring all dealers selling Loaded Shells Pistol or Rifle Cartridges to pay $5 per year. Hardware merchant A G Hitchens will pay the tax though he says there is little profit left in handling cartridges. Many merchants may face true against them if they keep selling cartridges under the old law.
J A Burpee thanks the people of Jackson for their liberal donations to him and his family after a late misfortune. He expresses deep gratitude and says he owes a debt he cannot repay.
