Griffin District Woman's Missionary Society closes session

The Griffin District North Georgia Conference Woman's Missionary Society held a successful meeting at the GriffinMethodist church with delegates from multiple denominations. Sessions covered reports, finances, temperance links to missions, and noted North Georgia's $40,000 regional goal with pro rata shares. officers for juvenile work, youth, mission study and social service were elected.

Board of Education Elects New Teachers

The Board of Education elected two teachers to fill resignations and transfers. Mrs. Julia Doane of Tampa will replace Miss Julia Thornton in Seventh Grade. Thornton takes Miss Smith’s place. Miss Kate Amos of Milledgeville will lead Fourth Grade. Miss Annie Lou McCord moves to First Grade. Prof. Martin has not secured a High School teacher, seeking Latin and French staff after Miss Elizabeth Rogers resigns to teach at Wesleyan.

Jackson Movies 10 Show Next Week

The New Vendome Theater will publish its weekly film and vaudeville lineup through The Argus columns. Col. Gilbert Walden, Texas cowboy, musician and humorist, will appear the first two nights with western recitals. Horn-tailed hoop-snake dies in Cobb County Georgia

A Cobb County farmer captured the horn-tailed hoop-snake on Marietta road and brought it alive to Atlanta. The serpent has died, its remains preserved in alcohol for the State Capitol Museum. It is said to be the only snake of its kind ever captured in Georgia and features a horn on its tail.

Rep Grover Edmondson of Brooks County pushes a resolution to call a constitutional convention with a $50 000 appropriation and a population based delegate system. Edmondson expects strong backing in both houses to amend Georgia’s antiquated constitution.
