Water and Light rents show 1909 total 6 091 98 and 1908 4 779 67 an increase of 2 312 31. Water customers on January 1 1909 were 129 and on January 1 1910 were 162 an increase of 33. Housewiring and plumbing accounts carried from 1908 total 554 05 with 1909 work 485 72. Amounts collected and returned to treasurer 811 43. amount uncollected 228 34 totaling 1 089 77.

Social Swainsboro: Notables and visitors fill week

W H Phinizee and W M Bledsoe traveled to Atlanta. J Matti McMichael, C L Redman, J E McKinley and many others visited Jackson area towns. Ladies and families shopped, visited, or vacationed in Atlanta, Griffin, Dublin, Jenkinsburg, and Indian Spring. The notes include illness, new homes, business moves, and a local death.

The report notes improvements enabling travel for a resident and Mrs. Carmichael. A well attended ladies' prayer meeting convened at Mrs. C Whitehurst's residence last Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. C Whitehurst hosted a Thursday dining with Mr. and Mrs. R C Cleckler, their children, and Mrs. O G Mingledorff.

Mrs J L Smith Passes Away in Local County

Mrs J L Smith known as Miss Lutie in this county died Friday night after acute pneumonia diagnosed the day of her collapse. She leaves brother Judge John I Hall of Macon and sister Mrs Rebecca Watts of Harpersville Miss along with nephews and nieces in Macon and Griffin. Funeral services will be at the Baptist church this Friday afternoon with burial in the city cemetery.

Professor Stewart Visits Jackson High School

Prof. J. S. Stewart of Athens visited Jackson High School on Thursday. He praised the school noting it is in the first class of accredited schools in the state and complimented its standards and progress.

Mr F E Jenkins Passes Away After Illness

Mr F E Jenkins died last Friday evening at the home of his son in law Andrew Tyler in Juliette after two weeks with pneumonia. He leaves five children and was highly esteemed in Jasper County. His son Eugene Jenkins died ten weeks earlier in a train accident at McDonough. Interment was at Sandy Creek with Masonic honors.
