Sheriff Beuchaump linked to a murder case involving Chas Jester, a Black man tied to a fatal attack on Tom Vaughn on William Hale's plantation years ago. Jester arrested in Birmingham last Monday as the sheriff receives accolades.
The new mayor and council met last Tuesday night and elected Chief Police J M Hollifield, Deputy Jas L Hooten, Clerk and Treasurer J Jolly, Tax Collector and Receiver E C Robison.
