The social column notes numerous locals in and out of town this week. Names include A T Buttrill Sam Freeman D W Grant J H Pope Oscar Cole Threatt Moore Emily Jinks and many others with stays in Atlanta Fitzgerald Monroe county Jenkinsburg Monticello and Macon plus funeral attendances and upcoming visits.
Daughters to meet next Wednesday at 3 PM with Mrs. Frank Etheridge. The birthday of General Robert E. Lee will be discussed. Questions cover Arlington history, ownership, current use, acreage, Confederate graves, Georgia involvement, and a life sketch of Lee.
Nine year old son of Mr. John Britt in Henry county died Sunday when a pistol he was handling fired. The ball passed through his chin and lodged in his head. He was buried Monday at Fincherville, leaving parents in deep sorrow.
Miss Lilly McClure entertained Friday evening in honor of Miss Lillian Brown of Macon. Visitors included Miss Mae Watson of Berner and Miss Elma Williamson of Lumpkin. Several games were played and late refreshments were served.

After a pneumonia illness Mr S J Joyner died Tuesday morning at his daughter’s home near Flovilla. He had lived in the county many years, was a Baptist church member, and his funeral was at the Baptist church with Dr Van Deventer officiating. Interment followed in the city cemetery. pallbearers were Confederate Veterans. He leaves four children: Mrs B C Milton near Flovilla, Mrs Brooks of Macon, Mrs N R McCord of this city, and J A Joyner of College Park.
The Carmichael Mallet Company expands its store moving the millinery parlor to the upper floor. A new staircase from the office leads to the second level with a suit and ready to wear department and a carpets rugs and mattings section. This addition enhances their already handsome store.
The Jackson National Bank held its annual stockholders meeting on Tuesday January 11. Earnings totaling about 12000 were placed to surplus and undivided profits. Directors elected for the year include C. S. Maddox J Lee Byron FE L Smith Z T Buttrill Joel B Watkins A H Smith T H Buttrill W P Nutt F S Etheridge. The board then elected I S Etheridge president T H Buttrill vice president R P Lasnett cashier and E J McMichael assistant cashier and bookkeeper.
Mrs. Mary Armor, president of the State W C T U, spoke at the Court House and Methodist Church events last Saturday and Sunday. She stressed prohibition needs and praised Southern women’s reliance on male chivalry, attributing the Georgia victory to divine blessing. Congregants contributed over seventy dollars to temperance work.
Jr. and Mrs. James Harkness McKibben celebrate their Pearl Wedding after thirty years of marriage at their West Third street home Saturday afternoon. A large guest list will gather to offer wishes and enjoy their hospitality. They request no presents. Kennedy's Laxative Cough Syrup advertised for coughs and colds is sold by Slaton Drug Co.
A party found with a wire foot mat at the door of the steps of the Harkness Building can avoid prosecution by returning it to its original place. This brief notice records the incident and the advised remedy.

The First National Bank calendar shows a Moran painting A Glimpse of the Sound of Montauk. The Aigas notes growing subscriptions and urges arrears payment to maintain clubbing rates. Postal laws limit subscribers to one year.
Miss Lillie Mae Hodges visits Jackson relatives this week. Will White gains a new son. Hugh Mote of Bethel visited last Sunday. Cleveland Aiken called on a friend at Finchersville. Lola Washington and Leila Stodghill visited Mrs Eugene Martin in Woodstown. M A Benson and family move to the old Benson home. John Chambers and family move to the Benson residence. The Tussahaw creek bridge at Hendricks Mill nears completion and will aid Worthville residents crossing the stream.
