Mr. R. L. Daughtry, manager of the Star Store, leaves Monday for eastern markets to purchase spring goods. He will visit Cincinnati Baltimore New York and Boston. He is noted as one of the state's most successful buyers with wide connections in merchandising and a belief that well bought goods are half sold.
An old advertisement touts Dr King’s New Discovery for consumption and related ailments. It claims cures for coughs colds whooping cough asthma hay fever pneumonia bronchitis and la grippe with a money back guarantee and free trial bottles at drug stores. It also promotes Dr King’s New Life Pill as a stomach and bowel regulator.
Religious services were held last Sunday at the Baptist Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Attendance at 11 o clock a m was fairly good, but evening services were greatly disrupted by bad weather.
