Reunion of the 80th Georgia Regiment at Jackson

Survivors of the 80th Georgia Regiment from Butts and nearby counties meet in Jackson on July 26 1895. Veterans march to the Presbyterian grove hear speeches by Judge Boynton M W McKibben and Judge Hardeman share a large basket dinner and preserve heirlooms such as a mutilated secretarys coat.

Hotels Register Large List After Friday

The South Atlanta ARGUS records a long register of names staying at local hotels since last Friday. The list includes JC Fuller E O Huson J A Burgess and many others, followed by a note on a South Atlanta District Conference held in Atlanta at St Pauls Church with Bishop Haygood and Dr W A Candler preaching and several local ministers licensed.

Jury acquits in Southern railway case after long deliberations

After nearly a day, the jury acquitted Bob Lee in the Southern railway case. The judge warned that unless clearly a wreck the verdict should be acquittal. Doubt remained on whether the incident was a wreck or due to track condition. Lee was freed after a jail-break warrant. authorities planned to continue the search for the alleged culprit.

Superior Court Dockets Include Guilty and Not Guilty Verdicts

Last session of the Superior Court disposed of cases including Mallet Duke burglary sentenced to 10 years, Jack Mann hog stealing 12 months, Jonas Banks misdemeanor 10 months, Bob Lee train wrecking not guilty, Merrit Barber gaming not guilty, Jack Campbell gaming not guilty, Major Proctor misdemeanor mistrial, Hugh Platner not pressed. All colored except the last. Headache and stomach remedies advertised as P. P. P. with various cures. Abbotts East Indian Corn Paint also advertised for corns and bunions.
