J H Kelly Killed by Jasper Commissary Manager
J H Kelly mason at the dam was killed Tuesday by Tom Nichols manager of the Commissary on the Jasper side. Kelly, said to be drinking, tried to force others from the store and cornered Nichols, who shot him. Coroner's jury ruled justifiable homicide and Nichols was blameless. Kelly’s body sent to Canton Wednesday.

Pearl Stalsworth Scruggs Passes Away in Atlanta
Mrs. Pearl Stallworth Scruggs died Sunday after weeks of illness and burns from an accident in Athens. She had surgery in Atlanta hospitals, was survived by her parents in Atlanta and several siblings, and her remains were brought to Jackson for funeral services at the Kinard home, with interment in the city cemetery.
