Iuka Town Board Minutes May 3 1910 Agenda Returns and Notices
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen of Iuka Mississippi met in the mayor's office at 7 30 p m Tuesday May 3 1910. Present were Mayor A B Patterson and Aldermen R J Brown G W Dudley J C Jourdan C W McKnight and J H Faircloth. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The town treasurer accounted for on hand funds warrants cancelled balance and incidental school fund. The meeting noted a large gobbler shot by N B Biggs near Indian Creek and other local incidents including a near collision with a newsboy and a report of a 6 foot owl carcass brought by Marion Barnes. Various park street and waterworks expenses were approved. The Board received a communication from public school trustees about turning over the school building. The Mayor reported April fines of 16. A fire destroyed the Cary place east of Bear Creek on the Riverton Branch R R during the absence of occupants. Mrs Fields of Burnsville died and was buried locally. A 300 acre farm for sale near Iuka was advertised by Patterson & Taylor.

Tuka Concert Band Meeting Boosts Community Support
Prof G Lynch addressed the Tuesday night gathering and was warmly applauded. The Tuka Concert Band, rehearsing Impromptu Overture under Mr Selby, shows rapid progress with public encouragement from Inka.

Fell From The Train At Riverton Junction
Elmer Wallace 21 from Hattiesburg sought $2 to buy a Huntsville ticket. He boarded a freight at Riverton Junction and was found dead next day in Trinity Alabama, likely from a fall. His mother lived in Huntsville. He was nephew to J F Walker and Gwen Walker of Riverton. Also reported a not guilty verdict in the state case against G W Glover involving a child.

Gravel bed sale and local notices in Archer Mississippi
Mr J L Archer of Archer Mississippi sold 80 acres of gravel land this week to Oldham and Storer for 1500 dollars. He had previously sold 20 acres to the same company for 400 dollars. The land lies near the Southern Gravel Pit three miles east of Luka. Key C C Clark returned from Frankfort Alabama where he preached at Evening Shade church. E A Hudson led his store in his absence. Jourdan and Robinson of the Illinois Central Birmingham Division visited town. Jourdan sent ViperrE to his brother-in-law Louis R Martin in Waco Texas. Kevin Duncan traveled to Riverton via Tonka. he secured Rev Ellis of Corinth to aid a meeting at Riverton. Iuka attendees at Allsboro Children’s Day included Mattie Faye Carmichael, Caddye Webb, Ollie Adams, W W Harris, Lucien Carmichael, Willie Carmichael, Eugene Hall, Frank Dean, Otey Harris, Gordon Massey, J R Gravette, Lot Rast. Community Notes From Dennis Area Gather For Footwashing
There was a large crowd at the footwashing near Dennis as Misses Effie and Iona Davis hosted Saturday night. Mr Johnnie Bouldon was buried at Joel cemetery Sunday evening. Several residents illness and visits noted, with others traveling to Belmont and Florida, and a local fruit crop reported fine.
