Royal Welcome For Roosevelt Parade Through New York
Theodore Roosevelt returned to the United States on June 18 to a spontaneous non partisan welcome in New York. He was greeted at the Battery after a long parade up to Twenty third Street, with 200 distinguished guests in Battery Park and about 2500 reception members. Mayor Gaynor gave the welcoming address and Roosevelt spoke briefly. President Taft could not attend due to official duties and prior engagements.
