Rev W M Leatherwood Sketch Death in Texas

The subject born and reared in Tishomingo county was brother of WiB Leatherwood. He enlisted in the 7th Ala Cavalry and served to war’s end. After the war he joined the Methodist ministry and married Sallien, leaving five children, four surviving. About 20 years ago he moved to Texas and died in Corpus Christi on April 11. He was noted for lovable traits and devoted service. The Vidette extends sympathy to relatives.

Obituary for J E Southward, aged nearly 68, longtime resident west of Lovelace, died Monday night Feb 21 after pneumonia. Civil War veteran of Moreland's cavalry, son of Lauderdale County Alabama, raised in Tishomingo Mississippi, later in Texas Hill County. Survived by wife Bettie and ten children in several counties. Burial preceded by family travel delays for Mrs Minnie Dodds. Church member Prairie Dale Baptist.
