State plans to realign Higgins Road at Oakton Street and straighten Busse Road at Algonquin Road as part of Route 83 improvements. Route 83 would widen to four lanes with medians and three more signals through Centex Industrial Park. Ambulance Driver Charged After Crash in DuPage
DuPage police ticketed Clyde May for lacking a chauffeur license after his Superior Ambulance crashed at Route 53 and Park Avenue. The collision sent three Hines children to Edwards Hospital with head injuries while May said brakes failed during an emergency run. Gene Hines, 34, Lombard, said he did not see the ambulance approach.

15 Minute Burglary Nets 14300 at Wood Dale Post Office
Wood Dale police term a well planned 15 minute theft that struck the Village post office at 115 Commercial Avenue. About 14 150 in stamps 150 in currency blank money orders and payroll checks totaling around 3 000 were taken along with postal keys and truck access. Federal authorities joined the probe as investigators traced a canvas truck and two stolen trucks possibly used to haul the safe from the loading dock.

Thomas Finn 15 of 244 S Judson Bensenville was treated at Elmhurst Hospital after allegedly being struck by a hit and run car on Church Road near Third Avenue at about 10 10 p m. DuPage police said he was walking northbound when the vehicle struck from behind and fled.
