County assessors eye 1910 class rise and higher road valuations

County officials anticipate moving Custer county from fourth to third class after 1910 assessments are equalized by the county and state boards. A 15 million or higher property valuation would lift salaries, with assessor pay rising about 200 a year and other officers around 500. Estimated 1910 figures show the Milwaukee and Northern Pacific rail lines potentially boosting county assessments toward the 15 million mark, aided by increased land and real estate values and higher per-mile rail valuation.
