The American Land and Irrigation Exposition to be held in New York this fall offers orchard and farming land giveaways. Proposals include a Dawson county tract via Pres. Elliot of the N P R Y, a $500 gold prize for best 25 boxes of apples, and cups for top wheat oats corn alfalfa potatoes sugar beets hops barley and cotton. Judges by U S Department of Agriculture ensure impartial scoring.
A May issue announces an upcoming Ismay entertainment course set to begin in October. Featured performers include Everett Kemp and his interpretive recitals, the Meister Singers quartet with organ chimes, Dr. L G Herbert noted speaker, the Wood Orchestral Trio, and Denton C Crowl presenting Sam Jones lectures. The program aims for high quality and variety, urging residents to save for future tickets.
The first sale of wool for the 1911 season occurred in Miles City on Thursday. J H Barnard, buyer for Hecht Leibman Co Boston, purchased on contract as the wool is not yet on the range. About two carloads are expected, roughly 200000 pounds, at a price around 16 cents though the exact figure and seller remain undisclosed. Barnard is the sole Miles City buyer currently. During the state two million pounds have already changed hands at 1 to 18 cents.
