A reader reports rough looking 1910 dated nickels circulating. No nickels were coined in 1910, so coins of that date prove counterfeit. The pieces resemble genuine coins in weight and color, but are detectable to the average person. Washington authorities have issued notices about the counterfeits.
A neighboring paper warns of gossip's damage as a man belittles others with private remarks while his wife gathers notes for a Missionary Sewing Circle. Cruel whispers target women, sisters, and innocent victims, showing a lack of foresight and respect.
A speaker at graduation urged girls to avoid relying on mothers for all chores and warned boys to resist a notion that work is beneath them. He cited the danger of drifting into a life of dependency and the hobo army, urging graduates to value labor and preparation for rainy days.
The Hettinger Commercial Club and other groups urge Puget Sound railways to supply free transport of feed and hay to drought affected areas. Protests must be filed by August 25 1911. Also Frank E Young of Westmore Montana filed a notice of intention to make final commutation for NW Section 26 Township 9 North Range 56 East. Public hearing set for August 5 1911 at Ismay Montana. Witnesses listed E P Davidson Solomon Lusty Burt Curtice Chas A Wolfe all of Westmore Montana. A Kirch er Register.
