Wool Clip At Ismay Plant In Montana
The Ismay shearing plant completed its first clip on June 12 and finished in July. S. Blachely from Yakima led a team of about fifteen with Harry Hill as foreman. About 45,000 sheep were shorn and nearly 500,000 pounds of wool shipped to the local woolhouse from Tee Dee and Ismay plants. Daily output averaged 180 to 200 sheep per man. 1911 clip totals from readable firms show large regional farming activity, with market volatility tied to tariff legislation and eastern manufacturing demand.
