Terry residents report social calls from Van Coil, H J Kramer, C N Souther, and others. Improvements include a widened Northern Pacific depot platform and planned elevator and restaurant openings. Local events note a baseball game Sunday and ongoing public projects on Powder River roads.
Dr J B Shaw formerly of Joliet Illinois now in Terry as a promoter, visits with Mrs Shaw praising Terry. He notes spring weather and reports many Illinois friends moving west, urged by local optimism and farming prospects, while expressing confidence in Terry’s future.
The author urges business owners and residents of Terry to plant shade trees along Logan avenue and cross streets. Transplantable trees are available along the river, and with organized effort and a wagon, the town could line its main streets at no cost beyond the work of transplantation.
Severin Oie of Terry and Hannah Helgeson of Sacred Heart, Minn., were joined in matrimony by Rev. Win C. Hunter at Mrs. Carrie Wood's residence on Sunday at high noon. The couple left by the 2 PM train for Miles City for a two day honeymoon and return to Terry.
The president sent Carl Rasch’s Senate nomination to fill the Montana federal judgeship after Judge William H. Hunt resigned to join the commerce court of appeals. Unofficial talk says another Montana district may be created and the seat might go to a candidate from the vacancy. Rasch’s Ballinger Pinchot case work may continue until confirmation.
Local notes report Lina Eggie and others in town with supplies. Residents such as H J Kramer and Jim Whaley visit Terry and repair plow gear while families travel to Winter’s Hot Springs and Canada. Falls events include a Fallon dance, a May 18 comet dance, and a Northern Pacific steel gang camped nearby.
