Bamboozled in Formosa Gun Running Plot
Waller, a penniless adventurer, meets the scheming Simpkin in Hong Kong and travels to Formosa to secure 30,000 rifles for a rebel group. He is attacked in a bamboo forest by Chinese forces, loses his guide, and is captured or presumed defeated before Japanese troops arrive and reveal the mission’s collapse.
