Mrs H J James calls on non subscribers to push Red Cross fund over the top in Westchester County’s Leavington Ardsley area. Attending chairman Charles F James reports the village needs only 185 dollars to reach its goal of 107 dollars.
The first regular meeting of the James Home and School Club was held Tuesday in the high school room. C. LeRoy Youmans presided as plans were laid for a Christmas party and to assist the village nurse. Membership grew with many residents signing on the roll and a large list of volunteers named for the entertainment committee.
Winter arrived with heavy snow as the State Highway Department laid sand along Main Street and Broadway to prevent accidents. Superintendent Walter Metcalf noted crews worked to ensure sidewalks and streets remained passable for winter travel.
The ceremony took place last Thursday afternoon at 3 o clock in the rectory of Mount Carmel Church Milletown with the Rev. W Planagan officiating. The bride Dorothea Short of Middletown New York wore wine velvet with black accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. The groom Peter Metfuah of Middletown was a son of Mrs Hares old Tripp. They plan to reside on Irvington.

All parish men are asked to attend the eighty o clock Mass on Sunday December 10 and receive Toy Com.
Probate petition in White Plains shows the estate of Charles T Newberry deceased two weeks ago at Sunnyside Lane valued near 3 million dollars. He left substantial trusts for his wife and children and designated 800 shares of J J Newberry Company stock for each beneficiary with provisions for hospital and YMCA institutions to receive stock allocations.
Announce betrothal of Elizabeth M Reilly, eldest daughter of Joseph J Reilly and Mrs Reilly of North Perris Street, to Edward Martin of Long Island City. Plans call for marriage January 28, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Church Irvington. Miss Reilly, a 1923 Irvington High School graduate, has worked in secretarial roles in New York for years. Mr Martin is in the combine business in Long Island City.
Rev George Metcalf, priest associate at Church of the Advent in Boston, named rector of St Barnabas Church Irvington New York succeeding Rev O R Rice who retires to St Luke's Hospital New York. Metcalf to preach farewell December and begin duties Christmas Eve with his wife and seven year old daughter. He is Harvard trained with tenure at Holy Trinity Southbridge Grace Oxford and Holy Trinity Church in New Britain earlier.
