At a Fire Department meeting last night at Fire Headquarters the resignation of Matthew J. Costello, resident of Hawthorne, was received and proven. Costello served as company foreman. Carl Wistrand, former member now living in Boston, Mass., was reelected as an active member. The company was unanimously represented at the Annual Dinner and Installation of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen’s Association held Saturday evening, Dec. Hik’s Club, White Plains, will host spaghetti dinner next month.

Heavier Case Load Blamed For Welfare Expenditures
Miss Margaret T. Foley, deputy town welfare agent, reported a rising relief burden with $29,000 spent in October and November, up from $25,000 a year earlier. Most cases were supplementary to Home and Relief programs, with 788 cases open on November 18. October fuel costs reached $172, while September was $27. Expenditures for September and October exceeded those of the same months in 1931, and October spending surpassed September’s totals.
