Two Youths Held for Hudson House Assault and Hold-up
Two youths from Ardsley and White Plains were arrested after attempting to rob the Hudson House Garage shortly after 1 am Tuesday. They struck attendant David Wangenstein with a baseball bat, were captured by Ardsley officer Andrew Reed and Dobbs Ferry officers, and held for the Grand Jury on second degree assault and first degree attempted robbery. Wangenstein was treated at Dobbs Ferry hospital with a scalp wound. Reed and Ward identified Reid and Ward at Irvington Police Headquarters.

A weekend religious conference will send thirty Irvington youths and counselors to a private camp near Parksville in the Catskills Friday through Sunday under the Westminster Fellowship of Irvington Presbyterian and St. Paul’s Methodist churches. The group will visit Camp Townserd owned by Webb Horton Presbyterian Church of Middletown. The theme is Youth At Prayer based on Methodist materials. Activities include hiking volley ball baseball badminton campfire square dancing and swimming. Counselors are Rev and Mrs Philip W. Furst Mr and Mrs Charles Williams and Mrs John Sweetman. Greenburgh Health Department ordered Ames Hospital on 34 Kidney Road to exhume carcasses of dead cats and dogs buried on its premises after residents complained of odor. Police said the burial site at the rear of the building caused a stench and regulatory action followed.

Malcolm M Roy to Retire as Village Attorney
Irvington village attorney Malcolm M Roy will retire effective June 2 after applying for state retirement. Roy, who has served since 1929, informed the board May 2 of his retirement and resignation to coincide with the retirement grant. He cited reluctance and family wishes and noted plans to see the village acquire a right of way for Half Moon Lane extension through Columbia University property before leaving. Ferling Dies After Long Illness in Ossining Home
C A Ferling of 77 Station Road Ossining died Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception church with a Requiem Mass conducted by Father emsters. Ferling, a sales engineer for the General Railway Signal Company of New York, had lived in Ossining over 38 years and in Spiro Part for more than a quarter century. He is survived by his wife Irene Medillind, two sons Norman A Ferling of Irvington and Charles Jr Ferling of Dobbs Ferry, one grandson, three brothers, and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Brockton Sept 2, 190, educated in Yonkers schools, and moved to Ossining after marriage.
