Dickinson led Cumming by 135 votes as Republicans swept Tuesday elections. The charter vote carried by 31 and the overall tally set a record for this year. Voting ran from 6:25 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. amid orderly conditions with high turnout and decisive majorities across districts.
Crowds are expected tonight for two screenings sponsored by the Irvington Police Department to aid the police fund. The free performances run at the Pirate-Color Sound studio on Astor Street with additional attractions and a color news reel. Over 1,000 tickets were sold, and local schools closed early to allow children to attend.
The Republican group will again run Village Government after a Tuesday election. Mayor Herbert C. Dickinson won with a majority of 115 votes over Democrat A Irving Cumming. Trustees Simpson and Gilbert won solid support, while Trustee Lastro, a Democrat, faces next year’s term. Wang appears as a new figure in local politics.
A Dobbs Ferry man Edward Foley and others linked to a swindle gang face indictment after a grand jury found evidence alleging robbery motive and assault at Ardsley Club. Police tracked John Cherinsky, 27, to Mastin after he attacked Ardsley head waiter Charles Decker and fled, with investigators probing a possible grudge. The same issue notes a fashion show benefiting St Faiths House planned for April at the Embassy Theatre in Dobbs Ferry, featuring local designers and prize drawings.
Brooklyn man Shindel and three accomplices faced charges after a Westchester New York fraud stock scheme that netted at least $200,000. Police identified him via rogue gallery and press coverage and he was arraigned before Judge Lysden on a first degree larceny charge.

Irving and Tarrstoworth Chamber official Ansem Most introduces a bill to place a state highway on the map. Mr Hunter notes Senate support and cooperation from Supervisor Duell and Village Boards in Greenburgh to approve the plan and release Broad Way to the State if the bill passes.
Gristedes Brothers announce plans to add a meat department to their grocery in Tarrytown. The new shop will occupy the former Koenis Garage near the Washington Irving Trust Co Bank on North Broadway, becoming a combined grocery and meat market and claiming to be the largest in the area. The old store at South Broadway and Mall Street will continue to serve local customers.
