Children courts spread across nineteen counties in state
County judges in at least nineteen counties preside over children’s courts as the law began May 1. Allegany through Yates have notified Secretary of State John J. Lyon. Counties decide whether to elect a judge or transfer duties, with salaries tied to county population. Ruth Taylor nominated for Children’s Court judge in the Republican primary. Fireworks and petition timing details outline election law deadlines. Secretary Lyons reports high demand for the political calendar copies as fall campaigns loom.
