The parochial school presented a class of nine graduates. Names listed include Edyth tyres Jude Et fendrucke Jo evis Elizabeth Mary Stoche and others. Word arrived of Miss Jesse R. Orton death at her Montrose California home. She was 78, daughter of the late William and Agnes Johnson Gillsple Orton, a noted Trviusdon family. Miss Orton had lived in the West for 15 years after leaving here about restoration time. Survived by Porter Orton of California. The funeral will be held Saturday at St. Bar ... family plot.
St Elmo Council plans a memorial service near North Tarrytown with about 300 members to participate. The event, first of its kind in 31 years, will be led by Knights from several New York City Councils. Service starts at 8 20 PM with Rev William J Don as chaplain.
About 1000 attendees filled the Westchester County Women’s Republican Club Business Women’s Division dinner hall. Speakers included Hon. Charles D. Millard and Hon. Pliny Wams. Mrs. Harold Verplanck presided. Notables at the guest table included Miss Eth Close and Mrs. Benjamin, among others.
At 2 20 PM last Saturday in the Irvington Presbyterian Church, Metta Miller Rochester of Tarrytown became the bride of Frederick James Elder of the village. The Rev Francis W Irwin performed the ceremony with the bride attended by Elizabeth Miller Rochester and Adelaide Elaine Rochester. Best man was Frederick Traver Elder. An informal reception followed at Windyside Rose Hill, and the couple will live there upon returning from their wedding trip.
Mr and Mrs W Barton Edison and children of Ardsley Park depart Thursday evening for their Maine summer home. The parish notice updates a planned service from Monday to Tuesday with a 10 a.m. start from the Parish House.
Max Emma Knodel librarian of the Irvington Public Library has returned from a library convention held the past week in Massachusetts. Mrs Charles D Fraser arrived here last week after several months absence and will occupy her home on West Clinton avenue for the summer. Arthur Loomia Harmon of Harri man Road helped select a winner for the Bridge prize donated annually by the American Institute of Steel Construction. The Westchester Park Commission won with a bridge over the Bronx Parkway carrying the extension at Earth Hla Te to a short span steel bridge. The committee was led by Tate Lindethal, a noted authority on bridge construction.
Miss Jennie Buckhout plans a six week European journey aboard the Pennland of the Red Star Line, sailing from New York City at midnight next Thursday.

Funeral services for Miss Ethel V. Hurst were held at 11:00 this morning at St. Barnabas Church with Rev. William Neely Colton officiating. Miss Hurst, longtime Irvington resident later of East Home Place, died Wednesday at St. Luke's Hospital New York after a long illness. Interment followed at Sleepy Hollow. She survived by Harriman of Wish and Mrs. George L. Matra of Concord, X. Hi.
In Tarry towns Pocantica Hills Irvington and Dabbs Ferry churches unite for summer Sunday vespers on June 29 at 7 30 pm on the lawn of the I School South. Ministers will speak with community singing and music by a cornet player and Jadana. If rain the event moves to Heh School gym.
Mr John Connors of 16 Main Street well known resident celebrated the fore part of the week. He is hale and hearty and enjoys the best of health.
Nyack fire company members vote to join the State Convention parade on August 1. Callahan's Fire and Drum Corps to lead, hoping to top the silver cup award won in a past Nyack event, with plans to use the new Alrens-Fox pumper in the display.
