A Pair of Sixes at Town Hall Monday Night

Gatholie Club and Children of Mary present a popular comedy in town hall Monday March 3 at 8 15 pm. Tickets sold out in the reserved section, but seats remain at Schneider Smiths confectionery rectory or at the hall. After the performance Ted Goldner leads an orchestra with dancing and refreshments by Irvington cake bakers.

Get Together Club Holds Thirteenth Anniversary Dinner

The Get Together Club of Hope Chapel gathered at Irvington Presbyterian Church for its Thirteenth Anniversary Dinner. About 130 members and guests enjoyed a Blue and White decorated meal led by Robert Simpson with Hope Circle of King's Daughters assisting. President C Pred Briggs reviewed a year of progress, and B D Hakes of White Plains spoke on unlimited possibilities and personal originality, urging action toward a new Community House.

Leg Broken in Two Places Child Hurt by Radiator Fall

Five year old Jackie Winkles son of Mr and Mrs John Winkles of 98 Main Street sustained a leg fracture in two places when a radiator fell on him during play on Wednesday. Dr Roane gave treatment and the boy is recovering at home.

Captain Joseph Smith Dies After 22 Years on Irvington Police

The death of Joseph Patrick Smith aged 64 ends a 22 year service in Irvington’s police force. He led the beat with trusted care, was a member of Foresters of America and Police Benevolent Association, and is survived by a wife Lulu Dewson, eight children and a sister. Interment at Sleepy Hollow followed a Requiem Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. The town mourns a faithful protector whose motto was children’s friend.

Fire Company Benevolent Fund Reaches $1000 in Irvington

The Irvington Fire Company held a Thursday meeting with Captain Gallagher presiding. Fred Nelson was voted in as an active member as the force nears the 60 member limit. Joe Mafface’s tally showed a net gain of over $360 from a recent event, among the largest receipts outside a carnival. The treasurer reported a solid ordinary fund and a $1000 benevolent fund to become operative April 1, reflecting broad support and gratitude for the department’s work.
