Tea hostesses were Mrs. Philip Furst, Mrs. Gerald Hibbard, Mrs. Stephen Wirtes, and Mrs. Alfred Hainfel. The March meeting will feature speaker Mrs. Kitchey from B Altman and Company Interior Decorating staff. Members are asked to bring a treasured heirloom or object art for display.
A musical talent night directed by Jac Meyer and Miss Phyis Whitaker will anchor the Irvington PTA meeting Monday evening March 3 at 8 15 in the High School auditorium. Virginia Sherwood will perform solos and the Irvington Junior Choir will sing. The program features School Band pieces and choral numbers with several local students performing. Friends are invited to attend.
Irvington moved swiftly to remove a 13 inch snowfall that blanketed the village last Thursday night and Friday morning. Main Street sidewalks were plowed multiple times on Thursday evening, with a small plow on the Highway Department pickup. Main Street and Broadway remained passable through the night and were scraped to the pavement by Friday. Outlying roads were cleared on Friday, side streets on Saturday, and business district snow removal began Sunday, despite no mechanical loader, as streets were opened for business on Monday.
Republicans and Democrats name the same candidates for mayor and two trustees for the village election on Tuesday March 18. Mayor Duncan G. Smith is slated to succeed himself with trustees William Ho Fallon and Joseph R. Pearce incumbents. The Republican caucus at Pastime Dish rooms on North Eckar Street nominated the slate from the village committee.
The Forty-fifth anniversary dinner of the Ger-Togter Chul will be held Thursday at Hope Presbyterian Church in Tarrytown. The event starts at 7:00 P.M. with a welcome address by John Doheny Jr and principal speaker Harold Dammann, both of Tarrytown. Joseph Hughes, former village official, will serve as master of ceremonies. John Ackbarth of Irvington chairs the dinner committee.
The Irvington football club will host a dance Saturday in the High School auditorium with music by the Lamplighters. A trophy presentation to the Irvington High School football team for its outstanding success will highlight the evening. Lucile Sweetman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sweetman, is a patient at Dobbs Ferry Hospital with a severe hand injury.
Duncan G. Smith appeals to Irvington residents after seven years on the board and as mayor. He notes endorsements by both parties and praises the current trustees for economical, efficient service, promising continued citizen satisfaction and faithful stewardship.
Final decision on Saturday closing weighed by Irvington National Bank and Trust Company and Sunnyside Federal Savings and Loan Association. Banks permitted to close all day Saturday under recently signed law. outcome to be determined next month.

Ian Martinson will MC a minstrel show by the Youth Fellowship at St Pauls Methodist Cinch on March 7 at 815 B.ME. The program features William Jones, David Martin, Seymour Smith, and many singers including Donald Illstone and Alison Howden Bey Howden. The event ties to Thelma Engand and Friday Radio Red Cross Day as part of 1947 fund preparations with Cedar Ridge unit and Home Bureau involvement.
