The Thursday Club plans a spring benefit melodrama and musical numbers at Dobbs Ferry High School Auditorium on Friday and Saturday evenings April 30 and May 1. The 24th charity event, staged by 120 members, will be coached by George F. Miles with a 1880s thriller titled Deity Work At The Cross Roads or Tempted Tried and True.
The Dobbs Ferry Hospitals Betterment and Maintenance Fund reports over 101000 raised after four days of house to house campaigns in Dobbs Ferry Hastings and Ardsley. Carl Shaver fund director praised chairmen division leaders and workers while Tina Marsiale and John J Donnelly Jr were highlighted for extensive canvassing. A final cleanup meeting is planned next Tuesday and a regular report is due tomorrow night at Masonic Hall.
Faculty and spouses attended a dinner meeting at the Hotel Florence on Friday night. Guest speaker George Renn of Mount Vernon, a New York State Teachers Retirement Board member, spoke on the Teachers Retirement Fund and its benefits.
Ground was broken on a hillside site of about five and a half acres on the east side of North roadway Ivington near Sunn site Lane for a two block garden apartment project. The plan calls for eighty apartments with modern kitchens and laundries, garages, playgrounds, and storage rooms. The Georgian and Colonial brick and stone buildings will have white brick and natural color exteriors with red and green roofs. The owners are Tav ington Gardens Inc White Plains. builders Edward A Cashin Inc White Plains. Architects NATO Matson Alt A White Plains and Edward J Martin Jr Tarrytown prepared the plans.

The Children's Museum in Tro gion announces a Saturday afternoon program at 3 o clock with short subjects and cartoons to be shown. Fourth grade and older children are invited, and admission is free.
Duncan G. Smith Mayor calls Irvington citizens to back the 1948 Red Cross Fund honoring the President's Red Cross month proclamation. Anna M. Kelly, village clerk, notes the official call to public generosity for relief efforts at home and abroad.
Irvington P T A plans Scholarship Night with speaker Miss Wahnetah Brummett from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School New York City. Philip C. Martin of the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at White Plains will discuss employment opportunities in technical education. A group of recent high school graduates will share experiences and guidance for students and parents.
Local Triangle Club announces a minstrel show at the town hall with performances by club members and guest artists. Community members encouraged to attend for entertainment and fundraising in support of club activities.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art lent a painting titled Spring in the North Country to St Barnabas Koch. On view in the Parish House auditorium, the work by Wilard Leroy Metcalf, born in New York in 1865, depicts Perkinsville Vermont with Mount Mansfield in the background and the Black River in the foreground.
William Henry Smith, known as Wawa, won a 2000 Hudson car from Irvington Post No 20, VFW. Reading of the victory sparks joy for some yet evokes worry over taxes and potential loss as the prize income could incur about 400 in tax, prompting questions about what to do with the prize.
Funeral services are scheduled Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception for Edward St John of Taster Road East Irvington who died last Thursday night at Grasslands Hospital after an illness. He was born seventy six years ago, son of the late Michael and Radger Cunningham St John, lived in East Irvington many years, was a carpenter who helped build many large estates. Since a sister's death several years ago he had lived the life of a recluse. He is survived by a brother Thomas St John of Kensico Avenue White Plains.
Irvington Iwwanie Club confirmed the Irvington Boy Scout troop and its leaders last night during a supper meeting at Hotel Florence. The program featured a screening of Adventures of Chico and Kiwanis Club awarded a gift to the scouts.
A dual control teaching car is donated to Irvington High School for its driver education course, presented by Blasberg Motors of Dobbs Ferry and Raymond E. Townsend. The program, part of a national AA A effort, will provide one year of loaned cars to schools with approved courses. Instructor Ralph S. Smith and traffic safety director Martin Klein will attend with local officials to promote driver education and its impact on reducing accidents.

Survived by wife Haggett Van Bleeck Foote a daughter Mrs Charles P Hood Washington DC two sisters and a brother plus four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
For the third year Republicans and Democrats align on one slate for Greenburgh village election on March 16. Nominations at caucuses name Trustee Frederick Kramer and Roswell Harsican to succeed Lyden, with James J. Lyden and Hartiman also considered for police and trustees. The balance remains three Republicans and two Democrats, polls open 1 to 8 PM.

Irvington Boy Scout Troop No. 34 expected to receive a 40 inch by 4 inch telescope made by the Irvington Kiwanis club. The presentation was deferred to a later date as all telescope parts were not yet received.
