Thursday Club to Stage Melodrama at Ardsley Club

The Thursday Club plans a spring benefit melodrama and musical numbers at Dobbs Ferry High School Auditorium on Friday and Saturday evenings April 30 and May 1. The 24th charity event, staged by 120 members, will be coached by George F. Miles with a 1880s thriller titled Deity Work At The Cross Roads or Tempted Tried and True.

Hospital Funds Exceeds $100000 in Dobbs Ferry drive

The Dobbs Ferry Hospitals Betterment and Maintenance Fund reports over 101000 raised after four days of house to house campaigns in Dobbs Ferry Hastings and Ardsley. Carl Shaver fund director praised chairmen division leaders and workers while Tina Marsiale and John J Donnelly Jr were highlighted for extensive canvassing. A final cleanup meeting is planned next Tuesday and a regular report is due tomorrow night at Masonic Hall.

Ingtton High School Teachers Dinner at Hotel Florence

Faculty and spouses attended a dinner meeting at the Hotel Florence on Friday night. Guest speaker George Renn of Mount Vernon, a New York State Teachers Retirement Board member, spoke on the Teachers Retirement Fund and its benefits.

Ground broken for TAVINGTON GARDENS apartments

Ground was broken on a hillside site of about five and a half acres on the east side of North roadway Ivington near Sunn site Lane for a two block garden apartment project. The plan calls for eighty apartments with modern kitchens and laundries, garages, playgrounds, and storage rooms. The Georgian and Colonial brick and stone buildings will have white brick and natural color exteriors with red and green roofs. Funeral services for Edward St John in East Irvington

Funeral services are scheduled Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception for Edward St John of Taster Road East Irvington who died last Thursday night at Grasslands Hospital after an illness. He was born seventy six years ago, son of the late Michael and Radger Cunningham St John, lived in East Irvington many years, was a carpenter who helped build many large estates. Since a sister's death several years ago he had lived the life of a recluse. He is survived by a brother Thomas St John of Kensico Avenue White Plains.

Dual-Control Car Gift to Irvington High School

A dual control teaching car is donated to Irvington High School for its driver education course, presented by Blasberg Motors of Dobbs Ferry and Raymond E. Townsend.
