Tevington Youth Center drive draws crowd for first $1500

Miss Helen Stubbe to Retire from Irvington Schools

Irvington Public Schools will honor Miss Helen S Stubbe director of physical education with retirement at the end of the current school year. The board accepted her retirement at an adjourned meeting on Wednesday night. Her successor will be Miss Carol Schneider formerly of 98 Main Street and a Cortland State Normal College graduate. Also resignations of two teachers were approved: Richard Femic industrial arts instructor and Miss Johanna Ayer kindergarten and first grade teacher.

Garden Club Display to Aid Red Cross Drive in Irvington

Irvington residents are urged to visit the Irvington Public Library next week to see the Moral display by the Tevington Garden Club marking the opening of the 1958 Red Cross Drive. Over 1500 letters will be mailed to villagers seeking support for the 1955 Red Cross Fund Drive and volunteers will solicit those who have not contributed. The Irvington Red Cross goal is 600 dollars as announced by Mrs Robert Samuel, with Donald Wormsey returning to Irvington High School after two weeks with pneumonia.

World Day of Prayer Friday at Irvington Church

World Day of Prayer will be observed Friday February 25 at 1 39 pm at the Irvington Presbyterian Church. Hastings serving as chairman with Philip Furst in charge of arrangements. Representatives of five member denominations will participate in the service, followed by activities by church women. The observance, begun in 1854 in the United States, will reach over 18 000 communities and 1119 countries. The liturgy is written by Miss Jorgetina Load of Buenos Aires, who is active in religious education and serves as secretary of evangelistic education in Argentina and was the first Latin American woman to participate in the World Council of Churches commission on Life and Work.
