Members of the Disabled American Veterans, Greenburg Mount Pleasant Post, will hold the installation of officers at the Florence Hotel in Tarrytown on Saturday evening. Mayor Dimean Ge Smith of Tevinge ton H. Tiklen Swas of Neeth Tarrytown and Sterling Fisher of Taneytown will be guests. Rudolph Loring of Elmsford is to be installed as commander with Le Therrien of Irvington as senior vice commander and Robert Calefine of the Tron as junior vice commander.
A funeral service was held Monday for Josemy M. Leonard a native of Tevington and noted local figure. The service at Inmachine Competition ICliweh Nort Tareytown followed his death in California on February 1 from a ruptured ailment. His body was brought to the Dwyer Funeral Home in Taers town, with a requiem mass at the church and burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
Leonard, 74, longtime Cedar Ridge Unit member from Jington, is remembered in a community gathering held at the Leicester Home Tuveat on Thursday March 3 at 1:30 PM. He worked for Lockwood and Wang, Lord and Burnham, and the Tater firm, later showing pressure cooker techniques.
The Women’s Association active for years in Salvation Army work across cities plans an important meeting at Irvington Presbyterian Church. About 60 sisters are expected, with Margaret Leonard and Mrs. Alice Edwards of Yonkers among organizers. The session opens March 1 at 2 30 in the church room.
William E Sweetman, a tetong resident, died after a brief illness. Funeral rites were held Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception with a requiem mass. Irvington police found a car abandoned near Breadway and the Presbyterian Shore before its owner missed it. Officers Gorey and Gory traced the vehicle to a residence on JB South Roadway, confirming the car description and later reporting the owner’s address as nearby. The case concluded with the owner locating the car at home, and investigators coordinating with local authorities.

Franks G. Evatt, 75, father of John H. Evatt, a district manager at New York Telephone, died at the French Hospital in New York City after a long career as an ice president and general sales manager of General Bronze. Born in England, he lived in White Plains and later New York, was a Mason and former vesman of Grace Episcopal Church. He leaves two other sons, Frank G. Evatt of Princeton, N.J., and Charles R. Evatt of Chicago, and a brother, Walter M. Evatt of ?
Two new Scout units Troop and Cob Pack in Irvington were registered with the Hendrick Thoson Council BSA. John A. Poulois serves as scoutmaster and cubmaster. Seymour Smith becomes junior assistant scoutmaster for Troop 3. Paul S. Ross heads the institutional representative role at Irvington House with committee members Tohn Conan William F. O Grady and Logit S Famory. Twenty seven townspeople registered. fourteen exited back. The troop's installation occurred Sunday with tenderfoot investitures. The Irvington High School council plans a Teen Age square dance event soon.
