Funeral Rites for James J. Hickey Held in Yonkers
James J. Hickey of Irvington longtime village plumbing and fireman, died last Friday morning at home on Asia Street Yonkers. Funeral services were held Monday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Yonkers with a requiem mass. The procession included uniformed firemen from the Irvington Fire Department escorting to the hearse. Survived by two sons Joseph and John Francis Hickey and five grandchildren, with surviving relatives in Irvington Yonkers and nearby areas.

Final Tribute to Harry Cole Bates
Harry Cole Bates died Saturday and is mourned by a large crowd at St. Barnabas Church. The service was simple and the interment followed at Teruel Cemetery. Bates had a long career with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and held roles in law and banking before serving in the Seventy-ninth Division during World War I. He studied in Paris and at American law schools, led church and college boards, and belonged to multiple professional and fraternal groups. Surviving are his widow Helen and several children and relatives.
