Editorial urges East Irvington annexation to Irvington

In facing April 1 taxes residents of East Irvington in the unincorporated Town of Greenburgh pay a combined rate of 22.9743 per 1,000. Irvington residents pay about 10.103 plus village tax, making annexation financially favorable by roughly 5 per 1,000. With the Thruway severing East Irvington from the town, annexation should be pursued.

Presbyterians to Install New Officers at Irvington Church

Dr Theodora Fiske Savage moderator of the Presbyterian Synod of New York State will install Irvington Presbyterian Church officers during the 11 00 Sunday worship. New officers include Brederic D Carter Mrs Donald R Reed Mrs James Robertson Robert Hannura Joseph Ringind Ralph S Smuth Edward Fraher Robert M Flint Joseph No Murray John E Hackbart 4H Maclniyre Grout Thomas Hottman and Theodore Selig. Dr Savage a Harvard and Union Theological Seminary graduate has served since 191 he as Executive Secretary for the Presbytery of the City of New York. His June 1954 election as Synod Moderator occurred at Hamilton College. Presbyterian School in Clinton NY.

Irvington Doctor to Appear on Medical TV Symposium

Dr Gene Stolerman medical director at Irvington House for children with heart disease will join the first international broadcast medical symposium on February 2 in New York City. The hour long session will be seen in 62 cities across the U S and Canada with over 20000 physicians expected to attend.

Funeral Services for George A Lander in Tarrytown

Funeral services for George A Lander of 22 Church Street Tarrytown were held Saturday at Bennett Funeral Home. He died last Wednesday night in Tarrytown Hospital at eighty six. The Rev C Kenneth Ackerman of Christ Church Tarrytown officiated and interment followed at a local cemetery. He formerly ran a meat market in Irvington and spent part of his career in New York area markets. He was born on Stumer Road and is survived by his wife two daughters Eleanor Reynolds of Jot Haven Danny and others along with a brother and a sister.

Williams Williams Sride to Hugh Stein in Irvington Nuptials

Mrs. Lillian J. Williams, daughter of Mrs. Stuart Wilton of 50 Imbree St Pennybridge, married Hugh R. Stein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stein, at the Church of the Transfiguration Tarrytown. The bride wore embroidered lace and tulle over satin with a seed pearl crown and carried a white orchid. Elizabeth Konyeesni of Farrytown was maid of honor. bridesmaids wore pink tulle gowns. After a Washington trip the couple will live on Miller Avenue, Tarrytown. The Irvington schools faculty met at the high school with W. A. Shuler announcing.

Wilbur R Clarke Dies Shoveling Snow

Wilbur Rathburn Clarke a longtime Irvington resident collapsed and died last Saturday morning while shoveling snow near his River View Road home. A 79 year old former Borden Company executive, he died of a coronary. Funeral services were held at St Barnabas Church and interment followed at Unadilla Forks Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Mildred Giles Clarke and a son Theodore H. Clarke.

Parkway Police Officers Suspended After Conspiracy Charge

John Paton a Westchester Parkway patrolman living on North Coltenet street was released on $1000 bail by Justice Edward Caterson. In Mount Pleasant on Wednesday he faced a conspiracy charge tied to a Kings County grand jury indictment stemming from a battle arrests probe. Berletic of Ardsley, also a parkway patrolman, faces a similar conspiracy charge. Both officers have been suspended by the department.

Hearing Set on Jaffray Subdivision in Irvington

Irvington Planning Board will hold a public hearing next Thursday in the Town Hall on a proposed subdivision of the former Reynold Jaffray property east of Berney Park. Camille Brady of Yonkers owns the parcel, under contract to Edward Platy, builder of Alexander Hamilton Gardens, who plans 21 residences named Saffray Court with access from South Ferris Street. The plan includes a rectangular loop, street paving, curbs, gutters, and wires. final decision awaits the hearing.
