Costello Rites Held After Grasslands Death
Mrs Sophia Downing Costello widow of Edward J Costello died at Grasslands Hospital after a long illness in her eightieth year. Funeral services set for 2 PM Friday at Vanderbilt Funeral Home Tarrytown with Rev C Kenneth Ickerman officiating and interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. She was born in England and came to America as a girl. Surviving are son Edward J Costello Jr of Cos Cob Conn a grandson and two sisters Nellie Hill of Nyack and Eileen McNally of Brooklyn.

Norman Dovening a 20 year old resident with Mrs Shellely in Berney Park disappeared Sunday night after being forbidden to do something. Police searched the Barney Park area but found no trace until Monday morning when he was located in his closet sleeping after saying the cellar was too dark and cold. Irvington Board of Education invites written transportation requests for the 1957 school year to be sent by March 1 to District Clerk Mrs Margaret Stanford High School Building Irvington.

Oil Shortage Impacts Irvington Gardens Tenants at 120 North Broadway
Ten tenants of Irvington Gardens at 120 North Broadway faced cold conditions Monday and Tuesday as oil supplies dwindled. Ten residents complained to the Irvington Police Department prompting a visit by the County Board of Health.
