Former Trustee Charles M Pateman Dies After Illness
Former Irvington trustee Charles Miller Pateman Jr died Monday at Dobbs Ferry Hospital after a short illness. He was 53, of 10 South Cottinet Street, Yonkers born, and a Breck Co territory sales manager. He left a wife Ruth Nilsson and son Charles Miller Pateman III. He served on Irvington Village Board 1952 to 1958, led Kiwanis and Key Club activities, and belonged to the Volunteer Fire Company and Church of St Barnabas. Interment Kensico Cemetery.

Chase Resigns as Irvington Recreation and Parks Chief

Trustees Approve 23 Percent Cost of Living Rise
Irvington village employees will get a 23 percent cost of living raise, retroactive to January 1 but applied to the payroll week starting Friday. The increase is funded by a surplus in the police salary account after unanimous approval by the Board of Trustees on Monday night. Leo Therrien spoke for the employees requesting the raise amid concerns over future year precedents.

Columbia Plans Yearly Gift To Ivington
Mayor Peter A. Peyser announced that Columbia University will begin an annual payment of 2500 dollars to the village in lieu of taxes. Dr. Grayson Kirk confirmed the arrangement in a letter adding the gift reflects services tax exempt institutions receive. NYU previously paid during ownership of the Gould property now Ardsley Country Club.
