The town backs buying a $2 room building on nine acres for a town office. It urges the council reject partial reimbursement by the owner for subdivision road, sewer, and water work costs totaling about 160000, arguing the park-like improve ment will raise adjacent land value.

Irvington to stage its first air raid warning test between 12 and 1 PM on Saturday with countywide Civil Defense tests. Red alert signals will sound by three short blasts from town sirens, then White all clear will follow after ten seconds. Westchester County Civil Defense will coordinate from the county office center, with towns and villages to sound their systems and centers.

Mrs Alexander dies at her home on Croton Place Tuesday night in her 92nd year after a long illness. Funeral services are set for Monday at the Conception Church, with burial in Mullen Cemetery. Surviving are her daughter Mrs Margaret Kiernan and granddaughters, with longtime clerk Andie Tyries of the Livington Post Office among those noting the family.

Mrs Florence Parmara Mara a longtime Irvington resident died at her North Rekae residence after a heart attack Monday. Funeral held at St Bartholomew Church with Rev Richard J Mashour officiating. Born in Uganda in 1901 she married George McNamara in 1916. surviving son George McNamara Jr of North Tarrytown, two grandchildren, and a sister Miss Dolly Barnard of England.
Voters will cast ballots in the forthcoming village elections on Tuesday March 20 at the Town Hall with three polling places. Districts 1 2 and 3 align to town districts 8 9 and 37 respectively. Residents will vote in Fire Headquarters Trustees Rooms and other designated Trustee rooms, with hours from noon to 8 PM for personal registration and inspection of ballots and poll workers on hand.
St Pauls Methodist Church hosts six Sunday evenings of film and discussion starting with South of the Clouds. The Protestant Film Commission presents the Near East tale followed by a Palestine travelogue and a general missions discussion.
