GOP Caucus To Pick Village Trustees In Irvington
The Irvington Republican Party will hold a caucus Wednesday evening February 9 at 8:00 P.M. in the Community Center to select two candidates for Village Trustee. The village election is March 15. Incumbent trustee Herbert G. MacIntosh is expected to be nominated again, with other qualified villagers considered for the second vacancy. The current five member Board includes Macintosh, William L. Johnson, Charles L. Ritchie, and Mayor Peter A. Peyser.

Assessment Roll Up 800000 Grievance Day Set
Village Clerk Knute Wistrand reports the tentative 1966 tax roll filed by Frederick Kramer shows a gross valuation of 36,632,901 with 1,016,695 from special franchises and 7,568,668 of exempt properties. The roll is up 802,200 to 29,264,233. Reassessment hearings are Feb 15 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Trustees will hear reduction requests. unpaid 1965 taxes total 2,744.05 and the village has collected 460,047.69 of last year’s levy through Feb 1.

Friends of Abbott House form driving panel for transportation
Mrs. John Francis Smith of West Clinton Avenue announces the Citizens group Friends of Abbott House forming a driving panel for transportation. The plan marks the fifty sixth anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America from February 7 to 13 with emphasis on scouting activities and character. On Boy Scout Sunday February 13 scouts will wear uniforms at worship. The panel includes ten women with co chairs Mrs. Richard Y Holcomb and Mrs. Harold B Jacobs. The aim is to improve volunteer involvement and bridge between Abbott House and the community to foster understanding of Abbott House. Widow Mrs Newberry Dies in Phelps Hospital
Mrs. Anna Case Newberry widow of Charles T. Newberry died Tuesday morning at Phelps Memorial Hospital after a long Tarrytown Irvington residence. Funeral services were held at St Barnabas Episcopal Church with Rev David Matlack officiating and burial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. She helped found the department store family name and served on hospital and library boards, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Garden Club groups. She was born October 23, 1881 in Watertown and survived by a daughter, a son and eight grandchildren.
