In a prewar committee guided drive to locate a new junior senior school site, a vote defeated consolidation plans. A committee meeting was set for January 1950 at Main Street School Library to form an organizing group and discuss the held matter.

The Hobby Show at the Children’s Museum in Ivington attracts children and adults with diverse displays. Collections include antique ceramics, model trains, old cars, bells, books, and pressed flower pages. Two film showings are set for Saturday afternoon featuring “Magic of Meat and Winger Leeland,” offering a chance to see hobbyists’ varied interests.
A village hearing discussed rezoning South 1 Street to allow 20 new apartments of 10 feet setbacks and other building limits. The plan faced scrutiny from residents including John New Pace and Sean End, with the council expected to vote by February 16. Julie Leverhy Frese will play selections on the piano, with Mrs Lucas Naefl serving as hospitality chairwoman.
A veteran Irvington resident and former mayor urges the Irvington School District No 2 board to resign citing mismanagement. He proposes an unbiased citizen panel from across the district to review school site changes and administration, criticizing the current board and urging “house cleaning.”
Siel Scouts held a mid winter rally in the Town Hall to receive tenor badges and mark completed work. Brownies were admitted to junior Scout troops including Elisabeth Baye Vera Almont Petsy Briss Dina Gein and others. Several members advanced to Second Class Rank and a group earned five year service awards.
Services will be held Friday for Mrs Annie Gilroy of Tigre and North Broadway Irvington a long time resident. Survived by daughter Mrs Annie Kelding of Brooklyn and son George B of White Plains. The obituary notes a memorial service and burial in Sleepy Hollow.
