The Irvington Gazette 30th Year Commemoration

The Irvington Gazette marks thirty years since its founding by Frank H. Morrell with issue No 52 of Volume 30. The retrospective notes the paper began in November 1907, the shift to calendar-year numbering, and early advertisers like J E Crawford. New Train Service For Theatregoers Shifts Stop In Ardsley

Residents of Irvington Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry learn a new weekend timetable for the 11 37 P M Grand Central train now scheduled to stop at Ardsley on Hudson for discharge. The Ardsley stop chosen as central to all three communities will serve Irvington and Dobbs Ferry as well as Ardsley Park, marking a regional rail improvement long sought by the Ardsley Park Property Owners Association.

Parkway Crash Injures Three on Slushy Saw Mill River Road

Three people were injured when a car skidded on a slushy pavement along Saw Mill River Parkway at Peter Bent Road and crashed through a guard rail. Driver Robert K. Petrausch of New York and passengers John H. Beck and Virginia Beck were treated at Grasslands Hospital for head injuries and possible brain contusions.

To Broadcast Mrs Black Song on WOR Radio

A Dutch cradle song by Mrs Henry V D Black of Ride A Wee North Broadway will be sung by Rauel Nadeau on WOR at 10 45 New Year s morning. The original Dutch verses date back over two centuries in Old New York and Long Island and were set to music by Mrs Black. The tale links the song to Theodore Roosevelt s family lore and it will air for the first time Saturday morning.

Kerr engages M E Kerr to Edward Palmer

Mrs Edward Kerr of Mont Lene announces the engagement of her daughter Miss Mary Elizabeth Kerr to Edward J Palmer son of the late Palmer of 21 South Dutcher Street. The couple met at Tevington High School class of 1935. Miss Kerr works at Brown's Electric Shop and Mr Palmer is with the Grand Union Company in Do Ferry.

The Red and White Ball at the Ardsley Club signals a popular season dance with numerous reservations. Mrs Gorey dies of heart attack in Ossining church funeral set

Mrs Patricia A Gorey wife of Police Officer Peter A Gorey of Irvington died in a Tarrytown hospital after a heart attack. Born July 1 1901 in Ossining she was a graduate of Ossining High School. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington with burial at Sleeny Hollow Cemetery. Survived by her mother husband son and several siblings.

Dogs Bark More as Census Finds 334 in City

A city census reports 334 dogs within the area, up from 316 last year. John McBride Jr and Edward Fallon, with Edward Murphy originally assigned, conducted the count before new licenses were issued. Mayor Mathew J. Murtha is noted in the account of the census.

G D Chamberlain Dies At His Home

George Dixon Chamberlain died Tuesday morning at his home on Station Road aged 69. Born in Christiana, Pennsylvania, he had lived in Kissimmee, Florida before moving to Irvington last year. He was a real estate engineer and was taken to Christiana for funeral rites. Funeral services are set for two o'clock Friday at the Friends Meeting House with interment in the Sadsburg Cemetery, Christiana.
