Woman's Club Plans December 11 Event and Red Cross Auxiliary

The Woman's Club schedules a Tuesday gathering on December 11 at 8:00 in the Parish House where Ailes Darling rehearses for the Pageant and participants must attend. The regular dance will follow. A Red Cross Auxiliary formed by Church of the Immaculate Conception women, with Mrs Parsons and Father Earley attending the organizing meeting. Mrs Laffan elected chairman and the group will meet Wednesday evenings in the Red Cross workroom.

Captain Cyrus Field Judson departs Tuesday evening for his new posting at the Rock Island Arsenal. Louis Eugene Tepp, a well known Elmsford counsellor and editor of the Elmsford Eagle, will marry Philadelphia girl Miss Minnie E. Bolzer Spivak. Irvington Home Guard Holds Drill and Arm Loan Discussion

The Irvington Home Guard met with about 45 members including new recruits. Captain Black led a drill in the school gym after a briefing on whether to loan or sell part of the arms to the re organized Dobbs Ferry unit. A committee was formed, and the meeting closed with a brief address by Lieut J B Cates and plans for a Christmas Day shoot. The Presbyterian Ladies Aid will hold a Christmas sale December 14 and 15 at the church parlors with cards, leather goods, linen, and household items.

The Conflict with Cruelty lecture at Town Hall

The motion picture lecture The Conflict with Cruelty will be shown at the Town Hall this Saturday December 8 at 3 o clock. It promotes the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with an adult audience in mind though children may enjoy it. Boy Scouts will act as ushers and supervise an informal evening. A corrected official roster of Irvington village residents enlisted or drafted for war service is to be compiled for the parents or next of kin.
