Garden Club Adorns New War Memorial Landscape
The Garden Club of Irvington and the Village completed landscaping around the High School War Memorial. Plantings include 19 Hemlock trees forming a semi circle behind the memorial, two Malus Hupehensis specimen trees at the sides, seven Taxus, and Pachysandra ground cover. Mrs. Harold B. Scott led the project as Conservation Chairman, with funds raised through public benefits for community needs. The club promotes conservation, civic planting, and beautification, supporting local schools, post office, and Phelps Hospital, and invites donations to cover the memorial’s about 1200 dollar cost.
