Irvington prepares for the 1937-38 term with two new hires Miss Elsie Bell and Miss Margaret Leonard joining the faculty to replace departing teachers. Leonard becomes music teacher at three schools. Bell teaches kindergarten at Irving Grammar School. Repairs and new features include refreshed classrooms new clocks and a principal’s office on the first floor.

Benjamin Halsey of Harriman Road, executive vice president of Sheffield Farms Damaxe explains a one cent per quart rise in milk price during the last week. He cites higher farm prices, a five percent wage increase for workers, and Social Security taxes. The increase, effective August 25, follows negotiations by the Metropolitan Milk Producers Bargaining Agency. Prices for Grade B in New York City rise to thirteen cents, Grade A to sixteen cents. Grade B school milk and pints of Grades A B and Certified remain unchanged.

Miss Margaret Irwin, daughter of Dr Richard Tiny, sustained minor bruises and cuts and was released. The accident happened on Kellwood Road toward Tarrytown White Plains Road when Schroff lost control and crashed into a guard fence near Knollwood Country Club.

Dominick Vizioli, 31, of Dobbs Ferry, was charged with third degree assault for allegedly striking Patrolman William Landry of the parkway police with a car crank handle. His case was postponed three weeks before Judge James J. Lyden. Bail remained at $100. The incident occurred after Landry ordered Vizioli to move his car from a driveway behind Woodlands Tavern on Saw Mill River Parkway. Vizioli reportedly grabbed a crank handle from under the front seat and swung at the officer. Landry disarmed him, with Vizioli suffering a forehead bite.

Greenburgh police recovered three abandoned cars found over the weekend. One stolen from White Plains was located on Dobbs Ferry Road near the Elmsford Country Club by William Stillman. A second car owned by Max Dgheney of Bratts Avenue Elmsford was found by Sergeant Theodore Melfried early Sunday. The third vehicle, stolen from Yonkers, was found Saturday afternoon on Dobbs Ferry Road by Patrolmen Ferdinand Stiltman and George Butler.

Mrs Louise Olmstead sixty five 415 Fulton Avenue Mount Vernon died after a collision on M E River Park Avenue Ashford Avenue in Dobbs Ferry Hospital.
