A driver who struck a parked truck on Morgan Avenue Brooklyn was issued a summons to appear before Judge Lytten In court on August 20. The accident occurred near the J W Rutter estate with Frank Matzele the truck operator. One passenger suffered a fractured nose and died at Tarrytown Hospital. A M Channes of 114 Gates Avenue escaped injury.
Miss i Knodel of 125 South Broadway is away for August as the Irving Public Library head librarian on leave. Netty Woodrift takes charge of the library until Knodel’s return, with Knodel widely recognized as the state’s librarian for her service.
Miss Margaret M Duggan youngest sister of Thomas Duggan married Dr John A Lawler Jr of Brooklyn at St Patrick’s church. Nuptials celebrated by John M as celebrant with Mildred Kenny as attendant. After breakfast at the Plaza the couple left for a one month wedding trip in the Middle West and Southern California. Irvington guests included Mrs Nellie McCormack and family. Traffic fines were imposed for violations at Reo and Main Street and Ardsley Avenue and Broadway.
A short circuit set off the automatic fire alarm at the Donaldson Brown mansion on South Treadway Monday at 1 10 pm. Fire captain Joseph Fal and crew arrived to find the three-story home with modern protection system had not required water. the alarm self extinguished with no injuries and only minor disruption as residents prepared for a forthcoming trip.
The Empire State convention, presided by President Cass, draws about 1700 firemen with 99 delegates in Nyack. Nominations for officers include Rev. The season ends September 7 with a concluding service, public invited.
Several teaching staff changes will take effect at the high school with the new term. Mrs Marold A Marey has served the district well as a Demes tes Della akes er pl the elty schools on opening days. Miss Ethel McLean will replace Mrs Smith. A D Craghorn leaves the office department and Lewter Alle secures the position.
Supervisor Charles D. Millard returns today after a short vacation to attend the Firemen’s convention in Ni. He will resume his duties and plans to participate in Labor Day events. Millard also intends to address his candidacy for Congress and will handle related matters upon his return.
