Following a survey of Greenburgh School System No. 2 the Board of Education awarded contracts for minor improvements across three schools. The project budget is four thousand five hundred dollars and includes painting and masonry work along with carpentry and plumbing.
The Fire Department continues its summer dances tonight at 8 in South Broadway Park. Moving from Saturday to Friday to allow late dancing until midnight, the event features fresh meat booths and novelties. Chairman Jack Downey Jr leads a committee including Captain Hayes and James Jack with other organizers assisting.

A September bride from Ardsley Park announced last week she will marry Joseph Thorne, son of Mr. Thorne Holmes of Pittsburgh and the late Mr. Holmes. The couple plans a ceremony this Saturday.

WPA artists in Westchester catalog designs and artifacts from colonial days. They draft drawings of textiles, costumes, and household wares to preserve patterns used by pioneer families. More than 160 specimens have been sketched, with stories tied to each item and sent to Washington for a national publication.
Parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Church plan a farewell reception tonight for Father Daniel I Daley who is being transferred to the Church of Holy Trinity in New York. Daley has served as assistant pastor here for eight years since his ordination in June 1938. He previously studied philosophy and theology at Cathedral College and St Patrick’s.
Mr and Mrs Walter B Walker sailed Wednesday on the Normandie for a European honeymoon. They will reside in Ardsley Park in the fall, where Walker has lived for 20 years. The couple wed Saturday at St Joseph Church in New York City with John J Thekey Lynch of Brooklyn as a sister of the bride and Will iam J May as best man. A reception followed at 136 Waverly Place. Walker, former partner in Walker and Austin, is a Yale and yacht club member and former president of the New York Lawyers Club.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of the Immaculate Conception for Mrs John Jordan of Mountain Mead East Irvington who died Monday afternoon. The Rev T Denton led the mass with interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Born in North Trotown she moved to East Irving and was long known in the Bast Irving community.

Federal Court Judge Guaries P. Me. Dobbs Ferry escaped injury when his new car hit a fire hydrant on Edgar Lane near Broadway Hastings damaging multiple hydrants. Minutes later Melee Haines Jr. of Trav is Place caused another hydrant to explode on Fairmont Avenue and South ite Avenue after a cigaret ash blinded him briefly and caused a loss of control.
Fire department members will observe a rotary nozzle display during the regular monthly drill on the second Monday of summer. The exhibit includes a three way deluge gun, movable and adjustable for fighting large fires, an upgrade the department currently lacks.

Playing in woods with other children they took a shortcut home through the Horg estate and she rolled down an steep bank tumbling headlong off a stone cut edge to a gravel driveway gutter after losing balance.
Democrats select fall ticket at White Plains on Monday night as a small convention with Chairman Cronin presiding. Congressman Millard faces Homer A. Stebbins in the 25th District race while Millard dismisses the opposition and says the ticket is the weakest yet nationally, state and county.
The endorsement of C Van Ness Wood as Republican candidate for State Senate came from F Reynolds Jr chairman of Greenburgh Federation of Young Men's Republican Clubs. Reynolds said he acted personally and not bind the federation. Greenburgh should back Wood solidly. Wood represents young Republican groups and has real estate and tax experience supporting his qualifications.
Sonya Friberg six, daughter of Mr and Mrs Friberg of Main Street, was badly injured Saturday night at Matthiessen Beach Park after falling from a swing. Park attendant James Jack assisted, transported her to Dobbs, where Dr Petruzziris required two stitches to a split lower lip.
Tickets for Coffey s Barbecue in Greenburgh are expected to draw over 1500 people on Saturday September 12. The event supports County Treasurer William S Coffey with an executive committee chaired by former Sheriff Thomas F Reynolds and featuring officials from Yonkers Pleasantville Mt Vernon White Plains and Hawthorne among others along with music games prizes hosts and decorations coordinators. The program includes a 1 pm sandwich lunch and barbecue in the early evening with sub committees handling seating games refreshments and publicity.
