Quiet spring election seen with few candidates
The upcoming spring election is shaping up as unusually quiet with Captain Sutherland the only mayoral candidate mentioned. The Peoples' party appears unlikely to field a city ticket, while the Citizens' convention will nominate next Saturday. Contests are expected in some wards for supervisor and alderman, mainly in precincts likely to be lively. The Sidumy note reports Gogebic county’s new town plans by G A Berg and associates, including lumbering near Go pepic Lake and a planned saw mill, with a large timber holding and a future town site. Bergland will shift operations after June 1st, paying cash for labor as his project proceeds.
