John Saippa of Lowell street suddenly collapsed and died after arguing over a bill with Her man Schiddel at the Riverside tavern in Hurley. The 34 year old, a former amateur boxer, weighed over 200 pounds and had lived with his mother on North Lowell street. He is survived by his wife, a young son, brother Arnold and sister Mrs Ray Simmons. He was born October 21 1909 and had driven a WPA track recently.

Bird And Small Game Season Over In Michigan
Michigan concludes the big game bird and small game seasons for the year. Coon season ended December 16 and the lower peninsula rabbit season runs to December 31. In the upper peninsula rabbits may be hunted through January 31, and fur bearers such as mink, weasel, opossum, fox, wolf, coyote, bobcat, skunk and lynx remain legal, with fox squirrel protected by recent legislation. Opossum and badger hunts run to January 31.

Final Tabulation For Illegal Deer Kill In Michigan
Lansing December 25. Tabulations on the illegal kill during the 1987 deer season show that three moose and two elk are known to have been shot. Moose and elk are protected in Michigan. Illegal deer kills recovered by department of conservation workers numbered just over 1,000. The Baldwin and Mio districts report the largest recoveries with 230 and 200 illegal deer kills found there.
