Ice Well Construction For Farmers In Gogebic County
Farmers are urged to build ice wells as a practical winter feature. An eight by eight foot pit nine and a half feet deep is filled with gravel in drainage holes and capped by a two layer floor. A small insulated house covers the pit and ice forms to a solid block by late February. Plans are available free from the agricultural office. Ethnologists claim the alphabet’s origin is discovered but copyright has expired.
